A Modroc Masterpiece!

Stage two of our Greek masks saw us experiencing the VERY messy media of Modroc.  Modroc is a bandage of plaster of paris - we had to cut it into strips, then wet it, before molding it over our masks.
Although it got very messy, we all really enjoyed using this to help us create our masterpieces.
Next stage, painting!

What stuck with you this week?

Hoplite Training

This week we have been learning about Ancient Greek warfare.  We learned about why they needed an army and a navy; how their infantry, called hoplites, fought during city state's disputes;  and even became historians, examining artifacts to learn more about this area of Greek history.

We even did some hoplite training of our own.

We learned why it was important to fight in an organised and strategic manner known as the phalanx.
But, we were no match for the army of Miss Mapp and Mrs Tredwell!

So we learned about how the Greeks also used catapults, battering rams and crossbows to help the conquer other lands and people.

How Healthy Are You?

On Tuesday, we had a theatre group visit us.  They performed a two man show that taught us all about the importance of exercise, healthy eating and reading packaging on our food to check for hidden salt and sugar.

During the show, they even got a few of us up to help demonstrate the circulatory system.

This got us thinking...how much sugar do we consume without even knowing it?
Time to do some research!
