New Year, New Topic!

This term our topic is Doctor Who's Intrepid Explorers.  Our classroom has turned into the Tardis and we went on our first adventure to meet the Ood.

So far, we've made our own Tardis and designed our own sonic screwdrivers and are now awaiting our next great adventure.

We've even started designing our own new planet.

Imperial War Museum

On Monday we headed to Manchester to visit the Imperial War Museum.  We followed the timeline from 1914 right the way through to the present day.  We learnt about how war has effected people's lives.

We got to watch the 360 Big Film which projected onto the walls of the main gallery, We watched a short film called Children at War which was made up of real children's experiences of war, past and present.

We also went up to the Air Shard (this represents the wars fought in the skies).  Some of us had to face a fears to make it to the top!

Our final exhibition was Horrible Histories, Blitzed Brits, which had lots of interactive activities for us to take part in.

World War 2

We started our new term with a fantastic new topic!
We had a visit from a Royal Air Force Officer who gave us the news that our Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, would be going public with the declaration of war on Germany.  Our first task was to create an information poster to help the general public understand why we are at war.

Check out our new working wall and our display.

Last Day of Term Fun!

Our fun activities today were all Greek themed.

Our fist activity saw us become fashion designers.  We had to research Ancient Greek clothing, then design and make an outfit out of bin liners.

We even had a fashion show!

We then had a food tasting session.  The olives didn't go down well though!

Feta, dips, pitta and olives.

We then had yogurt with honey for dessert.
YUMMY!

The Trojan War

As part of our Ancient Greek topic, we have been learning about the Trajan war.  We learnt that Homer, a famous Greek writer, told of the famous war in the Iliad.
In groups, we acted out the key parts of the story, before splitting up into the Greeks and the Spartans for the final showdown!
We then made our own Trojan horses out of clay.
